Which referencing style do I use?
CQUniversity's Referencing Policy for Undergraduate Programs states that each School will nominate a referencing style to be used by students in the School's courses.
The styles nominated by the various Schools are:
- Harvard (author-date) based on:
Commonwealth of Australia 2002, Style manual for authors, editors and printers, 6th edn, rev. Snooks & Co., John Wiley & Sons, Brisbane. Please note this is the 2010 edition, and contains minor differences from the 2009 edition. The Harvard guide has been updated for 2010. If you have already downloaded an earlier edition, you can view the changes/additions here. - American Psychological Association (APA) based on:
American Psychological Association. (2001). Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.). Washington, DC: American Psychological Association. The abridged guide to APA (5th ed.) has been updated for 2010. There is also an abridged guide for the APA (6th ed.). - Documentary note based on:
Commonwealth of Australia 2002, Style manual for authors, editors and printers, 6th edn, rev. Snooks & Co., John Wiley & Sons, Brisbane. - Australian guide to legal citations based on:
Melbourne University Law Review Association 2002, Australian guide to legal citation, 2nd edn, Melbourne University Law Review, Melbourne.
To find out which referencing style you should use in your course, go to Faculty Style on the navigation bar on the left. This will take you to a table of all the Schools in each Faculty and indicate the nominated referencing style.
